Giving Back at Home – USA!

This year the WOGO team is staying close to home and supporting their communities. We’re participating in Operation Walk USA!

Operation Walk USA is a non-profit medical humanitarian organization that provides free hip or knee replacement surgeries for patients – US citizens and permanent residents – who do not qualify for government assistance programs. Harnessing a national network of volunteer hospitals, physicians, nurses, physical therapists and others, Operation Walk USA is committed to helping those in need by restoring their mobility, self-dignity, productivity, and helping them return to their social world. WOGO will join participating teams across 27 states.

The annual event will be held in December. We are so thrilled to be able to give back to our own communities. Our surgeons will be providing joint replacement for free to the qualified patients. The most common cause of painful disability in the United States is arthritis, affecting more than 21 percent of the adult population (46 million Americans). Arthritis causes debilitating pain and makes daily tasks incredibly painful or impossible to complete. Treatment through joint replacement surgery is very successful, giving patients their ability to live their lives without pain. This surgery is extremely expensive and out-of-reach to the un- and under-insured Americans. The WOGO surgeons’ donation of their time and skill for free surgery will change lives.

In addition, the hospitals in which WOGO surgeons and teams will be working to complete these surgeries are also donating the time, space and hospitalization fees as part of the Operation Walk USA program. We are so grateful to work with such generous institutions.

We need your support and encouragement in this effort! Visit the WOGO website and donate to support our program. Get your Holiday shopping done early by giving to WOGO in honor of all of your loved ones!
