WOGO Team Sets Next Medical Mission

Roanoke, Virginia – October 5, 2022 – Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach (WOGO) announces the location of their next medical mission. In 2023, the team will travel to Georgetown, Guyana to work in the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Dr. Robyn Hakanson, WOGO surgeon and founding member stated, “This year, 2022, WOGO got back to work transforming lives in under-served global communities through the gift of mobility. Our group of female orthopedic surgeons is proud of our success of empowering, educating and engaging women and their larger communities. We are thrilled to announce our team’s 2023 medical mission to Guyana. The life-changing reconstructive knee surgeries our team will provide will restore mobility and change lives, and that is what WOGO is all about.”

Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach ( is a nonprofit volunteer medical service organization led by female orthopaedic surgeons. They have seen first-hand the power of joint replacement surgery to transform the lives of those who suffer from arthritis, the most disabling chronic disease in the world.

WOGO is incorporated as a team of Operation Walk (, a nonprofit volunteer medical service organization that provides free surgical treatment in developing countries (and occasionally the United States) for patients who have no access to life-improving care for arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions. Twelve other Operation Walk teams have successfully completed missions in nine different countries. The team has joined their global campaign because, although joint replacement surgeries have been performed on thousands of patients, millions more are needed.
