Roanoke, Virginia, November 1, 2022 – This Giving Tuesday, Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach (WOGO) will celebrate giving for the eighth year with our #Knees4WOGO campaign.
WOGO believes in the power of the global giving movement. This Giving Tuesday, WOGO’s goal is to fund our patients’ total joint replacement surgeries for the team’s 2023 medical mission to Guyana. The costs surrounding a single joint replacement surgery for WOGO includes the implants, antibiotics, anesthesia medications, surgical supplies, a walker and more, costing more than $7500USD. The #Knees4WOGO campaign, as a part of the Giving Tuesday community, will help to generate support for the upcoming medical mission where WOGO will continue to change the lives not only of patients but of their families and communities.
Our goal this year is to raise $7500 to fund one of our surgeries. We will utilize both our website www.wogo.org/donate and our Venmo @WOGO-Missions. Every donation will go towards funding a surgery. Every dollar counts.
Dr. Robyn Hakanson, WOGO Chairperson and Surgeon said, “The need for mobility is great in developing nations where the main mode of transportation is on foot. Providing joint replacement surgeries changes lives and leaves the communities we visit healthier, more knowledgeable and inspired to reach beyond prior limits. The Giving Tuesday movement allows us to share this goal beyond our immediate borders and encourage others to join our mission”
Giving Tuesday, taking place November 29, 2022, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on Giving Tuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet.
Founded in 2012, Giving Tuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. In just seven years, Giving Tuesday has radically changed how we think about generosity and showed just how much power communities everywhere have to create change.
